Our first guest at lottolab

Zissou of Supernatural Studios

Zissou is a 3D artist who contacted us because he was interested in testing the Mind Chair. He came around a few weeks ago and we spent a late Friday afternoon in conversation and Mind Chair experiences.

We applied the simple geometric shapes, like crosses and lines and he described his experience to us.

Zissou explained that he was trying not to feel anything of what was going on on his back. He was not focusing on his back but on his mental imagery. He said things like “It is not obvious at all.” and “It is like looking through fog.” He also referred to the ‘seeing’ as “getting a sense of it”. He spoke about gradients and his descriptions and hand gestures suggested 3-dimensional shapes and impressions.

When we applied a large cross shape, he said he saw a triangle with the tip pointing upwards, later he spoke of a letter T and then of an arrow pointing to the left. He said he was seeing a diamond shape twice.

After the cross, we panned a long vertical line across his back, back and forth. He described a long vertical shape with concave sides, the middle being the thinnest part of the shape.

He described the size of the shapes being larger than his back, the background of the mental image being black and the shapes violet. He thought that the violet maybe was a residual of the fluorescent light at lottolab. He later sent us an image and a video of his visual experience.

About a day after the Mind Chair session, Zissou kindly illustrated what he remembered seeing in his mind's eye. The purple triangle on the black background as well as the video are created by him from memory.
